The smarter E South America: Investments in the solar energy market exceed R$ 35 billion in the first half of 2022

Press Release – Wednesday, August 24, 2022

São Paulo, August 24, 2022: The solar energy market in Brazil registered an important acceleration in the first half of this year. The amount of equipment demanded by the sector in the period represented investments of over BRL 35 billion to serve distributed generation and large scale solar plants, a volume higher than the BRL 21 billion handled in the same period last year.

The data was by Greener, a consultancy specializing in studies on the solar energy market, during the first day of The smarter E South America, event aimed at the new energy reality and which takes place until Thursday (25), at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.

Also according to the study, energy consumers, especially in the retail and services sector, show interest in reducing expenses through subscription solar energy. According to the consultancy, this business model is expected to grow, requiring the construction of at least 3.9GW of solar plants by 2024.

“The solar sector continues to attract new financiers to the market. At least 60 institutions offer consumer credit, a great advance over the 40 mapped in 2021”, highlights Marcio Takata, director of Greener. “Even with the increase in interest rates, solar financing remained relevant, supporting 54% of PV system sales in the first half of 2022”, adds the executive.

In addition to the dissemination of data and trends on the renewable energy market, the first day of The smarter E South America was also marked by intense movement in the exhibition hall with its more than 380 exhibitors, the presentation of innovations and new business models, in addition to an extensive program of workshops, training and demonstrations.

“We are very excited about this year's edition and we hope that the next few days will be full of opportunities and innovative deals that can boost the energy market”, said Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director of Solar Promotion International GmbH, the international organizer of the event, alongside Freiburg Management and Marketing International and Aranda Eventos.
