Supply Chains and Industrial Development: Brazil's Place in the Global Energy Storage Value Chain

Hudson Zanin is a professor at UNICAMP, specializing in functional materials, energy storage devices, and energy converters. He has published more than 200 articles and holds more than 20 patents.He leads research, development, and innovation in batteries, fuel cells, and gas reformers, with numerous scientific publications, patents, and laboratory-scale manufacturing infrastructure for key devices for the energy transition. He works to bridge the gap between the private sector and academia. He coordinates research, development, and innovation projects with ANP, ANEEL, MOVER Fundep, FAPESP, FINEP, and CNPq. He is involved in the design and technical-economic analysis of new business ventures.

Harry Schmelzer Neto is a mechanical engineer who graduated from UFSC and holds a specialization in Financial Management from FGV. A board member of ABSOLAR, he began his career at WEG in 2009 and has been working in the solar energy sector since 2012. He currently serves as the Director of Solar, BESS, and Building at WEG.

Maria Gabriella Reigada is Partner and CEO of Sec Power, and an expert in energy storage, with over 12 years of experience in the battery industry. With an educational background from FGV and an MBA from Insper, she strategically leads business operations in the sector, driving growth, profitability, and innovation. She is an active member of the Communication Group at ABSAE (Brazilian Energy Storage Association), contributing to the promotion and strengthening of the energy storage sector in Brazil. With a strong track record in the battery industry for telecommunications, data centers, and solar applications, she leads initiatives in domestic manufacturing and the expansion of energy storage solutions, with a focus on energy security, sustainability, and off-grid solutions. Her commitment is to building a more sustainable, competitive, and innovative energy future.

Maria Stella Andreão is a production engineer with 15 years of experience at BNDES. She holds a specialization in Green Hydrogen from SENAI CIMATEC and in Energy Efficiency Management (EUREM) from COPPE/UFRJ and IHK Nürnberg. Currently, in the BNDES Planning Department, she is working on a study of production chains linked to the Finame Accreditation program, developing key industrial policy initiatives for the energy transition and the technological advancement of Brazilian industry.

Formado em Administração de Empresas pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco e Pós graduado em Gestão da Produção pela mesma instituição. Possui MBA em Negócios no Setor Elétrico pela FGV e há 15 anos trabalha no Grupo Moura, onde já liderou a área de desenvolvimento de novos negócios, gerenciou o Instituto de Tecnologia Edson Mororó Moura - ITEMM, único instituto de pesquisa, desenvolvimento e engenharia do Brasil focado em soluções de baterias, e atualmente lidera o negócio de Armazenamento de Energia do grupo. É o atual vice-presidente da Absae, Associação Brasileira de Armazenamento de Energia.
