Kleber Carneiro de Oliveira received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 2005, M.Sc. in 2007, and Ph.D. in 2012 from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), including a doctoral exchange period at the University of Minho, Portugal, in 2009. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), affiliated with the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering (DEER) at the Center for Alternative and Renewable Energy (CEAR). He has extensive experience in research and development in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on power conversion and power quality, focusing primarily on photovoltaic systems. Since 2022, he has been affiliated with the CEAR/UFPB Embrapii Unit.

The presentation covers everything from fundamental concepts and battery technologies to selection criteria based on power, energy, and life cycles. The content explores several practical applications, including solar self-consumption, peak shaving, and grid support, detailing through an electric vehicle (EV) charging station case study how the integration of photovoltaic systems with BESS can optimize contracted demand and improve financial indicators such as NPV (VPL) and payback. Finally, the course concludes that the viability of these systems depends on "revenue stacking" and a careful analysis of operational strategies to address current investment costs.
